Complete sleep schedule for 1-year-olds with 2 naps, wake windows, and bedtime recommendations
Quick Summary
Sample 12-Month-Old Sleep Schedule
Based on a 7:00 AM wake-up time. Most 12-month-olds are on a solid 2-nap schedule, though some may start transitioning to 1 nap between 12-18 months.
Wake Windows for 12-Month-Olds
At 12 months, wake windows are 3 to 4.5 hours:
- Morning wake window: 3 hours - after night sleep
- Midday wake window: 4 hours - between naps
- Evening wake window: 4.5 hours - longest before bedtime
Nap Transition Coming
Between 12-18 months, many toddlers transition from 2 naps to 1 nap. Signs your child might be ready:
- • Refusing the morning nap but still taking afternoon nap
- • Taking a long time to fall asleep for one of the naps
- • Waking up earlier in the morning
- • Taking short naps (less than 30 minutes)
Don't rush this transition! Most children aren't fully ready until closer to 15-18 months.
